Cinemaconcert «The Artist» in Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory
Бесплатное
24.05.2017 01:00 - 03:00

On May 23th and 25th the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory will host a unique event: "The Artist", a black-and-white film directed by Michel Hazanavicius will be shown here for the first time accompanied by the Symphony orchestra. That was the way films were watched in the 1920s, and now metropolitan music lovers have an opportunity to go back in time to the epoch of Hollywood prosperity.

Bolshaya Nikitskaya will see the magic over two nights: the heroes of Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo will come to life on the screen, and live music will come from the stage. Sincere homage to the Golden Age of Hollywood will destroy any borders and take its listeners to the mysterious travels across the history of cinema.

In 2013 Ludovic Bource joined his efforts with Ernst van Tiel again: together they began a tour with a film concert. This way spectators were given an opportunity to see the Artist film again, but now with live music performed by the symphony orchestra. Following the tradition of silent film shows, Bource and Tiel create a music time machine — from the Philharmonic hall they take listeners to the early 20th century, when pictures were accompanied by the orchestra or a pianist.

The film soundtrack will be performed by the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Pavel Kogan. The orchestra is well-known both in Russia and abroad: its repertoire includes the works by Skriabin, Tchaikovsky, Schubert, Beethoven, Strauss etc. The MSSO readily experiments with new approaches to music performing, so its participation in The Artist film concert fits perfectly. Similarly to other cities of the tour, Ernst van Tiel will take the baton in Moscow. The solo piano parts will be performed by the composer Ludovic Bource himself.
