On 27 July, 2018 ALRUD Law Firm, acting in cooperation with the European Patent Office, will hold an event on the issues related to software patent protection that become of utmost importance for companies in Russia and worldwide.
Our guest speakers Mr. Jesus Lavin Liermo and Dr. Michael Moltenbrey, European Patent Office experts dealing with applications for software registration will highlight the practical issues of software protection and licensing, including requirements for the application documentation set by the European Patent Office (EPO).

9.45 – Patents for software and software-based inventions protected by EPO
This session will include a brief review of requirements to objects presented for protection, and exceptions from protection under the Convention on the grant of European patents.
10.30 – Actual examples of computer equipment inventions 
The EPO case law description will be accompanied by comments regarding grounds for patent granting and reasons for denying a patent. The examples will cover different areas, including patents for electronic payment systems software, video games, business methods, aircraft construction software, and educational/training methods.
