Orange’s enterprise arm has won two deals in Russia, including one with a fashion chain that features a virtual fitting room.
Melon Fashion Group, which owns the Zarina, Love Republic and befree brands, will use immersive video conferencing from Orange Business Services (OBS) to speed up its manufacturing process.
The France-based operator is supplying its Open Video Presence solution, alongside Polycom RealPresence terminals, to enable Melon’s design team to communicate more effectively with their manufacturing facilities.
The former are based in Saint Petersburg while the latter are located in China.
OBS said Melon was losing “several weeks” from its production schedule because it had to ship samples from the factory back to the designers.
This process will now be done via video.
Alexey Morozov, CIO, Melon Fashion Group, said: “The virtual fitting room service…has enabled us to optimise our designers’ work and speed up the preparation of new products for mass production.
“In addition, we have avoided the need to create a video server, replacing it with convenient cloud services.”
It is the second deal with a Russian firm that OBS has secured this month.
Fishing fleet operator Dobroflot has signed up to use the operator’s managed maritime satellite solution, which features ship-to-shore communications and entertainment services, as well as business-critical apps.
It runs on a VSAT-based network and includes equipment, installation and maintenance services.
Yuri Badodin, Technical Director, Dobroflot Corporate Group, said: “Harvesting and processing fish during long periods at sea is tough work, and modern ICT technologies can help the entire crew stay connected.
“Another of our main goals was to introduce new communication technologies on our vessels, and we wanted an out-of-the-box communication solution with a predictable budget.”
Financial details of both details were not disclosed.
OBS saw revenues grow 0.7 percent to €6.4 billion last year.
